The stages of a sewing project

Playground Rookies, neoprene lined bomberjacket, custom for Shaurya, i.e. three sizes too big for me, but hey, it still looks cool.

The stages of a sewing project

  • ohhh I want to make something

  • endless daydreaming on the new project

  • browse multiple sewing magazines to find a pattern that’s close enough to what i want

  • download something from Mood, again

  • go to the fabric store

  • get distracted by all the fabrics and think of at least 4 different new projects

  • Buy the fabric, oh and matching thread

  • i forgot to buy the zipper (again)

  • Stare at the fabric for a while

  • Trace and cut the pattern

  • Add seam allowance

  • Cut the fabric

  • Wonder why this has taken 3 hours already and I don’t feel like I’ve started

  • Now I can start

  • Sew the easy things together

  • OMG this is soooo coool

  • at some point realize I sewed the wrong thing, undoing it and sewing again

  • Wait, how? what? HOW does this pattern work? I don’t get it.

  • Look to youtube for the answers

  • Get distracted by random youtube videos

  • Is this EVER going to work? I have no clue how to put this together, it’s gonna be one big mess.

  • Find a video that kinda matches but it is not the exact same

  • That’ll do

  • Ok, let me try this

  • Not sticking to the patttern, kinda do the youtube thing, but not quite since I cut everything already

  • Ok, so they do it like this

  • And then add the collar / cuff / zipper / lining like this

  • This does not look half bad

  • OMG it is actually coming together

  • IT IS!!

  • This is pretty cool!

  • I still have to add buttons on the cuff

  • hmm this garment can do without buttons on the cuff
